These Windsor Chairs are handcrafted using the same techniques as did the 18th century master chair makers. With the exception of legs which are hand turned on a power lathe, the rest of the chair parts are shaped using hand tools. The resulting, subtle, tool marks are a testament to the fine workmanship that goes into each chair. Chairs are constructed from the finest hardwoods; cherry for the seat and legs and oak or ash for the spindles and arms. Together, these woods produce chairs that are not only sturdy, but at true work of art. Finish choices include a natural hand rubbed clear finish, that allows the natural color and gain of the cherry wood to show through, or the traditional hand rubbed milk paint finish which simulates the look of yesteryear. Handcarving and attention to detail produces chairs of uncompromised craftsmanship and beauty.
